Past Crochet Projects

Up until a year ago, my crochet and knitting projects were fairly limited. I put to use what my Mom had taught me, that is, just your basic single and double crochet stitches. I also didn't have much time to devote to developing my skills, so I stuck to making simple crochet scarves.

As you can see, the picture quality isn't much to brag about either...

  1. Your scarves look lovely and cosy, especially the deep red :)

I couldn't reply directly to your comment on my blog so I thought I'd answer you here! I didn't block my hexagons, mainly because Stylecraft (being acrylic) doesn't block like say wool would. I just sewed them all together & put it on a quick wash & dry cycle.

I suspect blocking before joining would be a good idea though if your yarn was different - see this blog here from Little Tin Bird, she blocked all her squares first and they look so lovely!

She was using cashmerino wool :)

  2. Thank you so much for the reply! I have read that blocking is mainly for natural fiber yarns, but also that you can block acrylic as long as you're not using heat. I am trying a new blocking technique today and taking lots of pictures. I'm trying to block solid granny squares made of acrylic yearn. It's working. Sorta. But I'm not sure it's worth the effort.
